Step 1: Make the dough, roll out, and cut out the shapes

Lay out the cut out shapes, make sure to punch a hole in the tops to string later. Flip over during ‘cure’ period to allow both sides to dry.

Step 3, once ornaments are dry, paint ornaments and string with yarn or hooks.

The ornaments are now ready to be hung on the Chrsitmas tree, one side is painted, the other side is plain so that the cinnamon scent can emmiate into the room.
The recipe for no bake cinnamon dough for ornaments can be found here.

Such Steins may be made out of stoneware, pewter, porcelain, or even silver, wood or crystal glass; they may have open tops or hinged pewter lids with a thumb-lever. Steins usually come in sizes of a half litre or a full litre (or comparable historic sizes). Like decorative tankards, they are often decorated in a nostalgic manner, but with allusions to Germany or Bavaria. It is believed by some that the lid was implemented during the age of the Black Plague, to prevent diseased fleas from getting into the beer.

I will try most anything, food wise, at least once, especially if it is served to me in someone’s home. I am a borderline goat when it comes to food and thankfully, do not have any food allergies. My stomach, I often think, must be lined with kryptonite as I generally do not suffer from ‘tummy issues’, either, which is a huge blessing.
Edible, grub, chow, nibbles, snacks, energy source–no matter how you slice it, we all eat and some of us enjoy it more than others, an event or a source of entertainment for many.
We eat to not only nourish our bodies but our minds as well–dining or sharing a meal with another living creature (4 legged or 2) is one of life’s greatest pleasures and an essential component of life. But what to eat when on an adventure?
Food and drink in itself are often a great part of an adventure or memory of a time spent, if not the sole purpose of an adventure–small or big. Tasting tours are popular–flights of taste bud delights are trending–and the list continues.
Unless one is not at all concerned with expenses and has no care in the world for cost (overhead) or not mindful of the tab, then any thing is a ‘go’ but when adventuring near home, weekend getaways, or going on an extended vacation (long-term stay somewhere), the bottom line does play a factor.
When experiencing new things or re-visiting old stomping grounds, hunger is always bound to set in–or a break is desired with a refreshment–very normal. Alas, the tab can add up…..
I have found, partially thru the way in which I was raised-brought up and partially thru trial and error, ways to eat inexpensively with big flavor. Food is part of the adventure of life and why not make it exciting, too?
Tips for Eating Adventerously and not breaking your bank or travel budget:

1 tomatoe, 1 bell pepper, small loaf of pumpernickel broad, tub of Fresh Cheese with herbs, and an apple-2 people, 2 light meals–total cost for all–$3.50

Curry wurst special–3 Euros and enough for two people

I packed a lunch for us–lunch and snack for 2–cost: 3,25 euros

Missing the little things from back home is pretty normal, by most standards but one thing I really jonesed for was a good coffee shop that was relaxing yet fun, upbeat but comfy–and at last I found a ‘home’ coffee shop here in my area. And no, I am not doing a paid ‘pitch’ for the Dlounge, I have seriously been hunting for a good spot to relax and write in my journal….
A journal is something I keep in my bag along with several ink pens. Why?? One never knows where adventures might take me and honestly, I do not want to forget a moment of it–so if I am waiting for a friend, taking a coffee break, or about to head to a German class, a coffee is essentail and my journal is a must.
The DLounge, located on Kronenplatz in Karlsruhe, is the perfect coffee shop venue for me. The seating is comfortable, the music is always good, the coffee is hot and fresh, and the best feature…the baristas are super nice and speak English. What more could a girl ask for when getting her daily buzz?

The New Year has officially begun….and thus my brain started reeling of all the exciting things that the New Year will hold for me. Daydreaming, I admit, is a ‘bad’ habit I possess; I am guilty in relishing in this habit as well, practicing it often, sometimes daily for hours on end. Whew!!
A fascinating article (5 Important Lessons You’ll Learn About Your Life When You’re Following Your Dreams) has prompted (inspired, encouraged) me to write down, list the things I dream (a.k.a. day dream) about doing…a bucket list of sorts but I am not about to keel over, no worries.
(in no particular order, at this time!)

Why not??
As the year is winding down and wrapping up, I reflect on how I have spent my time in 2015–and the pages stare back at me, full of wonderous, fulfilling things–between the pages of literature (when I am not working or out and about with enjoying life with other humans)
I am blessed with a long history of reading and share in the delights of a family of readers (which, by the way, really is a super benefit when playing Scattegories–literature provides a whopping amount of double and triple pointers for the game). Books can be costly (oh but they never go out of style and require no batteries, chargers, or updating!!) but oh the wonders of family family book swaps, reading pools, thrift shops, used/second-hand book stores, and the list goes on and on and on–and yet, I continue to seek new material to enjoy, why??
Reading is an adventure–on cold days with a cup of coffee, summer evenings with a glass of iced tea, anywhere anytime. I often find I need to ‘snap back to reality’ when in the midst of a good book as I daydream about the plot, eyes glazed over, and pondering what will happen–even whilst I am out with others; alas, those whom know me well are also great readers and are happily willing to discuss books or anything read, regardless the source.
I stumbled upon this article (I am unsure of the author but here is the link from which it was derived as the author really does deserve due credit) upon the importance of reading.
Why is reading important? It is how we discover new things. Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand what is read. A person who knows how to read can educate themselves in any area of life they are interested in. We live in an age where we overflow with information, but reading is the main way to take advantage of it.
Reading develops the imagination. TV and computer games have their place, but they are more like amusement. Amusement comes from two words “a” [non] and “muse” [think]. Amusement is non-thinking activities. With reading, a person can go anywhere in the world…or even out of it! They can be a king, or an adventurer, or a princess, or… The possibilities are endless. Non-readers never experience these joys to the same extent.
I can not even being to list all of the books I have read over time–some linger still in the recesses of my mind and other, though good, left a smaller, less powerful impact and thus have been left behind. Here is a list of books I personally recomment reading, although is not inclusive, I have read every one (and they are in no particular order.)
