Johannes Reuchin, Pforzheim
An impromptu afternoon in Pforzheim on a lovely day, the weather was perfect and the wind was not blowing and the sun peeked out to brighten the day.
A bit of history includes:
Johann Reuchlin was born at Pforzheim in the Black Forest in 1455, where his father was an official of the Dominican monastery. According to the fashion of the time, his name was graecized by his Italian friends into Capnion (Καπνίων), a nickname which Reuchlin used as a sort of transparent mask when he introduced himself as an interlocutor in the De Verbo Mirifico. He remained fond of his home town; he constantly calls himself Phorcensis, and in the De Verbo he ascribes to Pforzheim his inclination towards literature. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

An Evening of Chiming Bells
A long day of walking and siteseeing wound down with a lovely evening of church bells chiming to ring in the beauty of the day, which, of course, included a dark-strong coffee in a Italian cafe on the river’s edge. The river and the bells provided a lovely musical venue, with a menagerie of lyrical beauty.
There is a beautiful, old fashioned wooden bridge that crosses the river Murg, providing an exquisite view of the Murg Valley and Murg River, bubbling over stones and dancing its way through the village. The cool, balmy air filled the senses with the delights of the earth, wood burning stoves and roasting sauages in the market square.
A delightful evening of pure enjoyment for all the senses–a quiet village well worth seeing–and a wonderful place to stay even longer.

An Impromptu afternoon adventure
A bit of free time between schedules left an open afternoon for me today, so i toured around on a whim, with great joy. I went walking and enjoyed whatever I happened to come across, and naturally enjoyed some sweet treats and coffee while out and about.

Mixing it up with Coffee
This evening Thomas and I drove to Karlsruhe to help reamp the battery as it had died (resulting in our car needing to be jumped) so we drove around, grabbed coffee at McDonalds (which tastes very different than the blend in the United States.) A fun evening, taking a ‘Sunday Drive’ around the region, drinking coffee (which is always a good idea) and putting some charge back in the battery.

Chocolate Cherries Compote on Apple Raisin Purses
Step 1 Line muffin tin cups with a crust, fill with apple mix (sliced apples, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and ground cloves)
Step 2: Cover each muffin cup with raw crust dough, pinching the dough around the edges, like when making a pie. Trim off any excess crusts.
Step 3: Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, brush melted over the top of each purse and bake for 10 more minutes, until golden brown.
Step 4: Top each purse with homemade chocolate cherry sauce–compote, serve hot. Delicious!!!

Super Simple Stir Fry
Ingredients
2 Carrots–shredded with a vegetable peeler
1 Green Bell Pepper, cut into thin spears
1 small purple onion, coarse chopped
Leftover Chicken or Turkey, pulled from the bone
3 gloves Garlic, diced
1 Tsp Dried Red Chili Flakes
Salt, Pepper
2 Tablespoons olive or sunflower oil
2 Cups of dry, white Rice (with 4 cups of water for cooking)
Put 2 cups of dry rice and 4 cups of water into a pot, add a pinch of salt, and cook at medium, boil for 4 minutes, turn off heat and cover, allowing the rice to finish (or you can use a rice cooker)
Place vegetables, spices, and oil in a skillet, stir fry on low heat until half way cooked,
Add Leftover chicken-turkey and stir fry with vegetable mix until vegetables are tender but not soggy
Put a scoop of rice on each plate-bowl and top with a portion of the stir fry mix. Delicous!!
Lightly stir fry vegetables in oil
Start the rice before anything else
Leftover baked chicken, pulled from the bone
Saute-Stir Fry meat and vegetables together
